A Tranquil South Devon Engagement Shoot

If you were wondering what an engagement shoot on a summers evening with me can look like - look no further! I see these shoots as a 'connection shoot' - helping ME to connect with you before your big day, and seeking purely to capture the connection - the electricity - between you and your partner. No cheese, no awkwardness, and no stiff posing - even the most camera shy and supposedly unphotogenic (always insane btw, I will ALWAYS make you look amazing!) couples relax and laugh and end up with a gallery of magic just like this one (although to be fair, this one came together particularly well given the light and the sea that evening coming straight out of a magical tranquil alternate universe).

I'll never get over the silvery, pastel coloured magic of this warm summer's evening. The sea was like a mirror. The sky was a perfect shade of the softest pink fading through to blue, and Joanna and Jamie were the most beautiful subjects for me to capture as the evening rolled in. I hope you'll enjoy these as much as I do.

We walked down the cliff to the most magical little bay on the South Devon coast, a special spot for them as this is where Jamie proposed. I started with a playful little 'warm up shoot' to relax them, get them giggling and comfortable with me taking their photo...

Then I suggested that they get in the sea, and thankfully not only was it warm enough, but they'd come fully prepared - well, almost.. Jamie had his favourite boxers on, which Joanna has been trying to get rid of - so the inside joke is now these boxers are forever enshrined in their engagement photos. I still cant help but chuckle at that... :-)

And then we warmed up by walking back up the cliff, and along to the bench where Jamie had proposed. The light was actually INCREDIBLE. This is by far my favourite time to shoot. Blue hour.... total bliss!!
